I've been a fan of Carlene Carter since her days with Nick Lowe when she was on the fringes of the punk scene. This was my first chance to see her in person. She did two sets, with a nice mix of her mid-90s country hits, her recent work with John Mellencamp, and more traditional Carter family songs.
She told several wonderful stories about growing up with grandmother Maybelle Carter and her mother, June Carter Cash.
She did an amazing version of Benmont Tench's "Unbreakable Heart," that she first recorded for her 1993 album, "Little Love Letters." On this tour, she's playing with Chris Casello and Alan Hill.
