Old Neon: Tusayan, Arizona, 2010

I never stayed at the Red Feather Lodge, but had to stop to get a few pictures of this great sign when I was on my way to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. The lodge is in Tusayan, Arizona, which is just south of the entrance to the Grand Canyon's south rim. The place was built in 1963-1964. The guy who built the lodge, Bob Thurston, led quite a life, even serving as mayor of Williams, AZ, while he was in jail for bootlegging. At least that's what they say on the Red Feather Lodge website.
